Get answers to common questions about Advanced Exfoliation - Jessner.
A Jessner peel is a medium-depth chemical exfoliation using a blend of acids to remove damaged outer layers, reduce pigmentation, and trigger skin renewal. It accelerates cell turnover and promotes healthier skin, improving tone and texture over subsequent weeks.
Many skin types benefit, especially oily, acne-prone, or textured skin. Darker skin tones may need extra evaluation to reduce pigment risk. A consultation and patch test determine safety and tailor strength appropriately.
Expect redness and flaking starting 48–72 hours post-treatment, with peeling lasting about 3–7 days. Full visual improvement continues over several weeks as new skin emerges and pigmentation fades.
Results vary; many clients see improvement after one treatment, while moderate pigmentation or scarring may require 2–4 sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart. Your therapist will recommend a personalized plan during consultation.
Avoid retinoids and strong actives for at least a week before. After treatment, use gentle cleansers, moisturizers, and broad-spectrum SPF daily. Avoid sun exposure and aggressive exfoliation until skin fully heals.
Temporary redness, swelling, and peeling are normal. Rare risks include prolonged hyperpigmentation, infection, or scarring. Proper assessment, aftercare, and patch testing reduce complications; contact your provider if unusual symptoms occur.
