Get answers to common questions about Brazilian Wax.
Trim hair to about a quarter-inch if very long, exfoliate gently 24 to 48 hours before, avoid tanning and heavy lotions on the day, arrive clean, and tell your esthetician about medications or sensitivities.
Most clients feel discomfort rather than extreme pain; sensations vary by individual and area. Estheticians use techniques to reduce pain, and discomfort typically lessens with each session as hair thins. Numbing options or breaks can be discussed if needed.
Ideally hair should be about a quarter-inch long — roughly two to three weeks of natural growth. Too-short hair won't grip, and overly long hair may increase discomfort; your esthetician can trim before waxing if necessary.
Schedule every four to six weeks depending on your personal hair growth and desired smoothness. Consistent waxing can lead to longer gaps between sessions as regrowth becomes finer, while individual cycles may vary.
Pregnancy is generally safe for waxing, especially after the first trimester, but hormonal changes can increase sensitivity. Inform your esthetician and your doctor about medications, recent skin treatments, or conditions. Some medical situations may require postponing service.
Begin gentle exfoliation 48 hours after waxing, apply a soothing fragrance-free lotion or aloe, avoid hot baths and tight clothing for 48 hours, and use recommended aftercare products to prevent and treat ingrown hairs.
